A Novel Series of Proprietary Small Molecule Compounds Treatment of Psychosis

The Centre Addiction and Mental Health has developed a series of small molecule compounds that are highly effective in animal models of psychosis and have receptor binding properties similar to clozapine which is currently the gold-standard for the treatment of psychosis. The compounds are based on either an oxazepine or thiazepine structure that lacks the chemical modality that has been attributed to the occurrence of agranulocytosis in some psychiatric patients treated with clozapine.  The early pre-clinical profile is impressive.
