Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre

Sunnybrook Research Institute (SRI) conducted more than $85 million in research in 2004/2005. Its 180 scientists are tackling the most pressing problems in health science and care head-on, in 200,000 square feet of state-of-the-art research infrastructure -- soon to be 360,000 square feet with a transformational capital expansion -- and leading-edge infrastructure and facilities. SRI is also the world headquarters of Sanofi Pasteur's Cancer Vaccine Program.

Areas of Research

Research at SRI spans the spectrum from basic science to translational research to knowledge transfer and commercialization. The work traverses four disciplines: clinical epidemiology, clinical integrative biology, imaging, and molecular and cellular biology, and aligns with Sunnybrook's strategic clinical programs: cancer, cardiac, musculoskeletal, neurosciences, perinatal and gynaecology, trauma and critical care, and aging and population health.

This multidisciplinary approach has at its core a simple mandate: discovery and its application to achieve clinical impact.
