Systems Biology
Centre for Modeling Human Disease (Mount Sinai Hospital). The Centre for Modeling Human Disease (CMHD) is a multidisciplinary collaboration of basic and clinical scientists, undertaking genome-wide mutagenesis to functionally annotate the mouse genome and develop new mouse models relevant to human disease. The CMHD has developed, validated, and implemented screening tools for in-depth analysis of the major physiological systems in the mouse and provides a broad range of physiological assays available on a fee-for-service basis. Applications of assays include characterization of mutant mice, validation of drug effect(s), or to produce biologically relevant data in early drug discovery.
Centre for Systems Biology (Mount Sinai Hospital). A primary focus of the Centre involves the mechanisms through which genes and their products interact to organize both regulatory systems within individual cells, and more complex multi-cellular structures. This is being pursued at the structural level, through the analysis of protein complexes involved in signal transduction and the cell cycle.
Terrence Donnelly Centre for Cellular and Biomolecular Research (University of Toronto). The Centre creates a unique organization in which research investigators from the Faculty of Medicine, the Leslie Dan Faculty of Pharmacy, and the Faculty of Applied Science and Engineering have been brought together. Donnelly CCBR is an open, fluid environment that encourages new ways of approaching biological problems by stimulating unconventional interactions among disciplines. The Donnelly CCBR consists of three research platforms, listed alphabetically: 1) Bioengineering and Functional Imaging, 2) Integrative Biology and 3) Models of Disease.
